Haze & Hollow

There’s a highway that winds down towards your front lawn, and there’s a fool like me in every town. Driving rain and too much medication, I stumble and I sway on sacred ground. I walk towards the light, but end up here every night. It’s so much easier to breath when I don’t know where the highway leads. I’ve been calling out your name on your doorstep in the rain. I’ve been calling out your name though it won’t ever be the same. Open mouths and open doors are fatal, nothing can cross this great divide. Stay the course and end up sweeping ashes of all the halos that refuse to shine. Angels locked in a devil’s room: they made their choice a bit too soon. I can’t find my way back but every weekend brings me down here. I’ve been calling out your name on your doorstep in the rain I’ve been calling out your name though it won’t ever be the same.

Breathe like a wheelbarrow. Choke on the plow. These lands were once fertile, Where now they lie fallow. Keep away from the window, Keep away from the door. Feed the coal to the furnace Stoke the fire, keep us warm. There’s gunfire on the far side of the mountain. This house is a sparrow in eye of the storm.

Coat Of Arms 01:52
Twelve days we’re thrown together. Now that it’s ended, we can’t find our way out. Simple a question of whether, We suffer in silence or quietly shout- What a surprise! We’ve got the same coat of arms What a surprise! We’ve got the same coat of arms Twelve days we’re undecided: tell us a joke and the tension is gone. Someone wants to keep us divided, I only sleep wide-eyed until dawn. What a surprise! We’ve got the same coat of arms What a surprise! We’ve got the same coat of arms

So what, you think I like to climb out through this window? I must have been thinking of those wheels that hiss and spin out on a highway wandering through a heavy rain with no sunrise in sight. I looked for my hope, but it has gone away on a much needed rest- Oh, I could no rest. You must have been a favorite daughter of a Holocaust. You put a weathervane inside my head then let the deluge come. I cannot hate the mess that you put me in. I feel misled and forsaken, at least it’s you that left me taken. Put me back and let me in on the joke- I would not laugh, no I would not laugh. You are haze and hollow, and all the crap that I’ve been going through. You’re parasite more dark than light, and I need you here with me. I beat you to the punch line and see you sad beside this joke, And would not laugh, no I would not laugh. You must been thinking of those wheels that hiss and spin, Oh I would not laugh, no I would not laugh.
